Fairchild Semiconductor's High Bandwidth Video Switch Wins ``Product of the Year'' Award from analogZONE

    Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

    SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2005--

FSAV430 Provides Ultra Wide Bandwidth (1.1 GHz) with Excellent Signal Fidelity

Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE:FCS), the leading supplier of power products for portable applications, announced that its FSAV430 high-bandwidth video switch was recently designated "Best Video Switch" by the editors of analogZONE in their prestigious annual "Product of the Year" award competition. The FSAV430 was selected on the basis of strong technical merit, design innovation and marketability.
"Wide bandwidth and excellent signal integrity are the characteristics that designers are looking for in video switching applications," says Jerry Johnston, Fairchild product manager for analog switches. "The FSAV430 provides excellent high-resolution performance, and its compact package is also ideal for space-constrained portable applications."
"This part will do exceptionally well," stated analogZONE. "It's about time a vendor provided a high-frequency solution such as this."
The FSAV430 is a wide-bandwidth (-3 db @ 1.1 GHz) quad Single Pole/Double Throw (SPDT) (2-to-1 multiplexer/demultiplexer) video switch featuring ultra low-power operation of 1uA maximum. The low-power feature enables FSAV430 to be the ideal candidate for portable and handheld designs such as portable media players, cell phones and notebooks.
In addition to video output pin sharing in slim DVD designs, Fairchild's FSAV430 is also ideal for emerging high-resolution video applications such as HDTV front-end designs with YPbPr and RGB inputs up to QXGA resolution. The device's low ON resistance and wide-bandwidth characteristics allow passing high-definition video signal with minimum edge and magnitude distortion especially under highly capacitive loads. The FSAV430's excellent crosstalk performance of less than -75 dB eliminates annoying monitor ghosting effects.
Although specifically designed for the volume applications of component video switching (RGB and YPbPr) in televisions, monitors, home theater receivers and other electronics, the FSAV430 is also useful as a coaxial relay replacement for RF switching up to about 150 mW, which covers a huge number of potential applications.
